From Haiti to Florida: A Life Built on Faith, Service and Resilience 

Carline’s story begins long before the creation of Florida Assisted Living Consulting.

As a Haitian immigrant, she understands what it means to build a life through faith, sacrifice, discipline, and determination. Her journey has shaped how she approaches leadership and why she believes so strongly in helping people recognize opportunities beyond their present circumstances.

Her Haitian heritage remains an important part of her identity. It has influenced her values, her work ethic, her commitment to family, and her belief that success should create opportunities not only for the individual, but also for the people and communities connected to that person.

Carline’s faith is also central to her life.

She believes that business can be profitable while remaining purposeful, that leadership should be grounded in service, and that the work a person is called to do often requires courage before it provides certainty.

Those beliefs became especially important when she began considering a life outside of her secure career in law enforcement.

A Career in Law Enforcement and Public Service  

Before becoming known for her work in assisted living, Carline served with the Broward Sheriff’s Office.

She worked shift schedules, carried significant responsibility, led others, and built a stable career with dependable pay and benefits. She ultimately advanced into supervisory leadership as a Sergeant.

Her law-enforcement career taught her how to operate under pressure, communicate clearly, document thoroughly, manage people, identify risks, respond to emergencies, and remain accountable for outcomes.

Those abilities transferred naturally into assisted living consulting.

Licensing and operating an Assisted Living Facility require more than enthusiasm. They require attention to detail, an understanding of rules and procedures, emergency preparedness, accurate documentation, staff accountability, sound judgment, and the ability to respond when circumstances do not go according to plan.

Carline’s public-service background gave her a strong foundation for helping facility owners develop those same disciplines.

It also deepened her desire to serve in a new capacity.

Entering the Assisted Living Industry 

Carline did not enter the assisted living industry as someone observing it from a distance.

She became an Assisted Living Facility owner and administrator.

That distinction matters because assisted living ownership involves responsibilities that cannot be fully understood through theory alone.

An owner must think about the property, local zoning requirements, fire and life-safety expectations, health department requirements, emergency preparedness, staffing, resident care, documentation, finances, marketing, family communication, inspections, and day-to-day leadership.

An administrator must understand both the regulations and the human side of care.

Carline learned what it takes to create a safe, compliant, welcoming environment while also managing the realities of running a business. She saw how easily aspiring owners could make expensive mistakes when they lacked the right information at the beginning.

She also saw talented nurses and caregivers with years of healthcare experience struggle to translate their clinical knowledge into business ownership.

Knowing how to care for someone is invaluable, but operating a successful care business also requires knowledge of licensing, finance, marketing, leadership, systems, staffing, compliance, and strategic growth.

Carline began helping others bridge that gap.

Leaving the Security of a W-2 Career  

In 2021, Carline made one of the most difficult decisions of her professional life.

She left the security of her position with the Broward Sheriff’s Office to pursue entrepreneurship full time.

The decision was not effortless or fearless.

She had a steady income, benefits, professional status, and the predictability of an established career. Walking away meant confronting questions familiar to many aspiring entrepreneurs:

• What if the business does not work?
• What if the income is not enough?
• What if leaving a secure career turns out to be a mistake?
• What if the dream is bigger than the available resources?

Carline did not wait for every fear to disappear. She moved forward while the uncertainty was still present.

That decision eventually allowed her to build successful businesses, regain greater control of her time, expand her impact, and create a platform through which she could educate and support other people.
