A Week I Will Never Forget
This week was one of those moments where you pause… and just take it all in.
As you know, Jamar is graduating high school, and this week he was honored at a special ceremony recognizing the top 10% of his class.
And yes… I’ll be honest with you.
I was grateful, but not surprised.
Because I’ve always known who he is.
He’s disciplined.
He’s focused.
He’s responsible.
He plays sports, he handles his responsibilities, and he does well in school.
But what truly took my breath away was not just the recognition…
It was hearing from his teachers.
The people who watched him grow over the past four years. The ones who saw him daily.
To hear how much they love him, how much they appreciate him, how they described his personality…
Kind-hearted.
Down-to-earth.
Light.
Goofy.
But also serious, focused, and driven when it matters.
I sat there thinking… wow.
They see him the way I see him.
And that moment meant everything.
Don’t Miss What Matters Most
As I sat there listening, I had another realization.
Sometimes we are out here changing lives, serving others, being everything to the world…
But the people in our own home don’t get that version of us.
They don’t feel seen.
They don’t feel heard.
They don’t truly know us.
And to me, that is tragedy at its core.
So this moment reminded me…
Yes, serve the world.
Yes, build your business.
Yes, make an impact.
But don’t miss your home while doing it.
I am so grateful that my children feel seen, supported, and loved — and that they are becoming who they are meant to be.
Every Generation Must Do Better
We always say this in our home:
Every generation should be better than the next.
As the whole family gathered to celebrate Jamar, I joked with the other kids:
“What a bar Jamar has set… but no pressure.”
And we all laughed.
But deep down, I know this:
They will do even better.
Because we are intentional about it.
We are building:
- Knowledge
- Discipline
- Character
- Resources
- And yes, financial opportunity
This is how generational curses are broken.
This is how generational wealth is built.
Not just in money… but in mindset, values, and access.
And as a first-generation builder, I am so proud.
