From Deputy to CEO: A Piece of My Story and Why It Matters for You

Oct 05, 2025
Connect

I don’t always talk about this side of my journey, but I want to start pulling the curtain back a little. Because behind Florida Assisted Living Consulting, there’s me — Carline, a wife, a mom, and a girl who once had a dream bigger than her circumstances.

Before I ever became an ALF business mentor, I wore a badge. I served with the Broward County Sheriff’s Office — first as a deputy, then as a sergeant. I loved the uniform. I loved serving. I loved the people I worked with. But what I didn’t love was missing so many moments at home.

đź’” The Moment Everything Shifted

I’ll never forget one moment in particular. My youngest was barely five months old when I was called to be away for almost a week during an emergency assignment. The ache of leaving my baby and my family behind — it broke me in a way I can’t put into words. It planted a seed. I knew deep inside I had to find a different way.

But walking away from my W-2 job wasn’t easy. That job meant security. A steady paycheck. Benefits. And to be honest, it terrified me to let it go. But that hunger to be present with my children was louder than my fear.

✨ A New Chapter: CEO & Present Mom

Fast forward to today — I did the hard work, I figured out a way out, and now I get to write this message to you as a CEO, mentor, and most importantly, as a present mom. This past summer, for the very first time, I was able to take my entire family on vacation — for the whole summer. Those are the moments I once dreamed about when I was stuck in shift work. And now they are my reality.

I’ve attached a few pictures because I want you to see what’s possible. If a little girl from Haiti — who grew up without parents, raised by family, and came from poverty — could create this life, then so can you.

This was when I was serving with the Broward County Sheriff’s Office.

🤝 A Word for You, Wherever You Are

Wherever you are right now — perhaps you’re trying to convince yourself you can do this, you’re trying to make a plan, or you’re just trying to figure out what’s next — I want you to know it’s normal to feel overwhelmed. I’ve been there. And if you need help, all you have to do is hit reply.

And because I want to keep this real and personal, you’ll also be hearing about life updates as we go along. Right now, my biggest “mom moment” is scheduling my son’s cap and gown photos. He’s graduating high school next year. I’m so proud, but also secretly hiding in a corner crying, because I know college is right around the corner.

🌿 What’s Ahead

So, stay tuned. You’ll be getting more of me — the business side, the family side, and everything in between.

Because this isn’t just about me building a business. It’s about showing you that you can too.

Life Is Precious — Don’t Miss What Truly Matters
A Gentle Reminder About Life Lately, I’ve been reminded again and again… Life is precious. Watching family members and friends pass away — some expected, some not — has a way of bringing everything back into perspective. It slows you down.It makes you reflect. It makes you ask yourself what truly matters. And for me, the answer is clear: Family.Friends.Serving others.Living intentionally. Becau...
Don’t Forget to Celebrate How Far You’ve Come
Pause… and Look Back for a Moment Sometimes we’re so focused on what’s next…That we forget to acknowledge what we’ve already done. The hard decisions. The scary steps. The moments you moved forward while feeling uncertain, afraid, and even overwhelmed. That takes courage. And many times, we don’t give ourselves credit for it. Years ago, I made a decision that changed everything for me. I learned...
Life Is Short… Live It With Intention
A Gentle but Real Reminder Lately, I’ve been sitting with a deeper realization. Time is short. And yet… sometimes we live like we have forever. Over the past few weeks, I’ve experienced the passing of a few family members… and also a couple of friends. And it has been a vivid reminder of something we all know, but don’t always live by: Life is not guaranteed. Some are blessed to live into old ...
