Life Is Changing Again… and I’m Learning to Change With It

A New Season for Our Family
It’s August, which means school shopping, new schedules, new routines, and preparing everyone for another school year.
But this year feels a little different in our house.
Jamar is getting ready to start his journey at Florida Atlantic University (FAU). I still can’t believe I officially have a child going to college.
My middle son is heading into seventh grade, and my daughter is going into fourth grade.
My babies are growing.
And with every new season, I’m learning how to adjust right alongside them.
There are school lists to complete, schedules to organize, businesses to run, clients to serve, a team to lead, and a family that still needs me to simply be Mom.
So, to every parent trying to balance back-to-school season with work, business, caregiving, and everything else life requires...
I’m right there with you.
And if you aren't carrying those same responsibilities right now, I want to encourage you to look around and see who might need a little help.
Pick up something from the school supply list. Offer to watch the kids. Make dinner. Send an encouraging text.
Sometimes what feels small to us can make someone's entire week easier.
Prioritizing Myself, Too
I've also been continuing to navigate the health journey I've shared with you over the past several weeks.
In addition to working with my doctor and following my treatment plan, I've become much more intentional about taking care of my body.
I've been exercising about four times a week for 45 minutes, working with a personal coach, and I've hired a dietitian to help me make better decisions for this season of my life.
And so far...
I've lost about 20 pounds. 🎉
But the number on the scale isn't what I'm most excited about.
I'm starting to feel better.
Some days are still challenging. I'm still learning my body. I'm still adjusting. I'm still figuring out what works and what doesn't.
It's all part of living this beautiful, sometimes complicated human experience.
And I'm learning that prioritizing yourself doesn't mean everything else suddenly disappears.
The emails still come.
The children still need you.
The clients still need answers.
The business still has responsibilities.
You simply learn that you belong on your own priority list too.
That's something I'm working on, and maybe you need that reminder today as well.
What Are You Prioritizing?
Sometimes we say everything is important.
But when everything is a priority, nothing really is.
This season, I've been asking myself:
What truly needs me?
What can someone else handle?
What can wait?
And what deserves more of my attention right now?
Those questions have helped me create more room for my health, my family, my clients, and the things I'm called to do.
You don't have to do everything.
But the things that matter most deserve the best version of you that you can give them.
I Have Something Exciting to Tell You... 👀
There's also something happening behind the scenes that I am very excited about.
I've been working on something that represents another step forward for Florida Assisted Living Consulting and the community we're building together.
I'm not ready to tell you everything just yet. 🤭
But I promise...
You'll want to watch your inbox.
I'll be sharing the news very soon.
ALFCaregiverCon 2027: The Expertise Coming Into the Room
One of the things I’m most excited about for the 2027 ALF Caregivers Conference is the level of knowledge and real-world experience our speakers are bringing into one room.
We’re intentionally bringing together professionals from different sides of the assisted living and senior care industry so you can learn about more than just opening or operating a facility.
You’ll hear valuable perspectives on AHCA regulations and compliance, funding and financing, real estate, legal protection, accounting and financial strategy, senior placement, caregiving, business growth, leadership, marketing, healthcare, and building meaningful industry relationships.
And we’re not done yet. 🤍

Before You Go
As we enter another busy season, give yourself permission to adjust.
Your priorities at 25 don't have to be your priorities at 41.
Your priorities before children don't have to look the same afterward.
Your priorities when you're building a business don't have to stay the same once that business grows.
Life changes.
We change.
Our families change.
And sometimes growth looks like recognizing that what worked before doesn't work anymore.
So adjust.
Ask for help.
Take care of yourself.
Be present with the people you love.
And keep building the life you prayed for.
I'm doing it right alongside you—one imperfect day at a time. 🤍
And before I go...
I really do have some exciting news coming.
Stay close. 👀
