The Next Chapter Requires a New Version of You
The past few weeks have been full of milestones.
Watching Jamar graduate high school and prepare for Florida Atlantic University has me reflecting on something I've learned over and over again throughout life:
Every new chapter requires a new version of you.
The version of Jamar that succeeded in high school is not the same version that will thrive in college.
The version of me that worked at the Sheriff's Office is not the same version that built Florida Assisted Living Consulting.
And the version of you that got you here may not be the version that takes you where you're meant to go next.
Growth requires expansion.
Expansion requires change.
And change often requires courage.
Don't Be Afraid to Outgrow Old Versions of Yourself
One of the biggest mistakes I see people make is holding on too tightly to old identities.
We become comfortable with who we've been.
But life is constantly inviting us to become more.
More disciplined.
More focused.
More courageous.
More aligned with our purpose.
Sometimes that means learning new skills.
Sometimes it means finding new mentors.
Sometimes it means letting go of things that no longer serve us.
And sometimes it simply means believing that you're capable of more than you've allowed yourself to imagine.
Summer Is a Great Time to Reset
As summer approaches, I encourage you to use this season intentionally.
Ask yourself:
- What do I want the rest of this year to look like?
- What habits do I need to strengthen?
- What goals deserve more attention?
- What distractions need less attention?
Small adjustments made consistently can completely change your future.
You do not have to wait for January to start over.
You can begin today.
Core Training Is Coming 🎉
I am still celebrating becoming an official Core Training Provider.

- The certificate needed to sit for the Florida ALF Administrator State Exam
- Continuing Education (CE) opportunities
I have so many ideas to help future administrators prepare, learn, and pass with confidence.
